Becoming an artist

I wish to start a series of articles to young circus artists, newly graduated from the most prestigious higher circus schools, whom I had the chance to support very early in their youth, and to follow throughout their training, until their professionalization.

To see them bloom, evolve and come true is for me an enriching source of fullness, an immense joy coupled with a deep admiration for ho they have become: magnificent artists.

I am proud to support these young people and to transmit to them a passion, the love of aerial disciplines, the love of the circus : their art, their profession, their means of expression !.

Aerial Silks workshop

Camille was 14 years old when she participated in the first Aerial Silks workshop with me in Saint-Nazaire.

Originally from Saint-Nolff (France), Camille dreams of doing circus and especially becoming an Aerialist !

She enters the Saint-Paul high school in Vannes which offers a Circus Art option, which allows her to practice around 5 hours per week.

Drapés Aériens company has forged links with the teachers of the school and offers internships to students.

Then Camille auditioned to the Academy for Circus and Performance Art (AcaPA) of Tilburg in the Netherlands, where I teached as a guest teacher between 2008 and 2018. She stayed there for 3 years from 2012 to 2015 .

In 2015 she auditioned to the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels, from where she graduated in 2018.

Her early career took her to contemporary circus and dance working with the Dutch company Panama Pictures and the Belgian company Argonauts, then in 2019 she was selected to be the leading role in the next Cirque du Soleil show “Under a same sky ”. Unfortunatly, following the health crisis we are going through, this show is now stopped.

Now Camille lives in Piriac-sur-Mer (France), she regularly trains at the Garage, and she actively participates in the development of our activities and particulary the project to create a Center dedicated to Circus Arts in Saint-Nazaire , waiting to be back on the road with new contemporary circus companies in September …
